Valmagne Abbey
With its 900 years of history, Valmagne Abbey is one of the most beautiful tourist sites in the Occitanie region. It is particularly renowned for its cathedral of vines, which houses large wine-making casks on either side of the nave, and the fountain in the heart of the cloister. This will be the ideal place to enjoy the evening, with the aperitif served in the cloister, the show performed in the courtyard followed by the dinner show in the magnificent church.
Les Précieuses Ridicules – Molière
“People of quality know everything without ever having learned anything.” Molière
For this 5th edition, Molière’s play ‘Les Précieuses Ridicules’ will be performed before dinner in the courtyard of Valmagne Abbey by the company L’Illustre Théâtre de Pézenas. You’ll be treated to this famous play performed in its entirety by a troupe of 7 actors.
With “Les Précieuses Ridicules”, Molière amuses us with an incredibly modern satire on appearances and fashion.

Les caves lèvent le rideau //
Weekend from 6 to 7 June 2025
Extend your discovery of the great wines of the Pézenas terroir. The winegrowers of the Festin de Molière welcome you to their estates all day for a fascinating discovery of the vineyards in a friendly atmosphere.
Les vins du Terroir Pézenas //
A veritable mosaic of soils, the Pézenas terroir is made up of Villafranchian pebbles, schist, limestone and sandstone, with the particularity of being crossed by basalt flows. This volcanic terroir is unique in the Languedoc vineyards, making it a rarity on a global scale, adding complexity and minerality to the wines.
Only available in red, our Pézenas wines have a common signature, elegant and velvety. Rich on the palate, they are well-balanced and round, with present, silky, long-lasting tannins. These volcanic wines have astonishing ageing potential. Our wines are a natural match for an original menu.
Molière // 1622
“Jean-Baptiste Poquelin was born in Paris, Molière was born in Pézenas.”
In 1650, the Estates General of Languedoc were held in Pézenas and the troupe was chosen to entertain the gentlemen of the Estates General. Then, three years later, Molière became Comédien des Etats Généraux and of His Royal Highness the Prince de Conti, a great lord, libertine and theatre lover, who was the third most important person in the kingdom.
These years in Languedoc left their mark on Molière, and some of his characters may well have been inspired by his encounters there.
